Course description

Overview: Fusion 5.0: Advanced is a hands-on instruction book that explores progressive Web page

authoring with NetObjects Fusion. This course focuses on site creativity and database interaction.

Students learn how to customize the MasterBorder and its elements. Using frames, Imagemaps, and

forms are explored. This course introduces the Microsoft ASP Components for NetObjects Fusion. These

components are used to create dynamic data driven Web sites.

Prerequisites: This course is designed for the student who is familiar with browsing the Internet and is

proficient working in the Windows environment. The student should take the Fusion 5.0 Introduction

course and have a good working knowledge of relational databases, such as Microsoft Access. To ensure

our success, we recommend you first take the following Element K course or have equivalent knowledge:

 

NetObjects Fusion 5.0: Introduction

 

Access 2000: Level 1

Delivery method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured handson

activities.

Benefits: Students will learn how to create unique Fusion Web sites by modifying the MasterBorder and

its elements. Students will also learn the benefits of dynamic data driven Web sites and create such a

site using the Microsoft ASP Components for NetObjects Fusion.

Target Student: Students enrolling in this course should be proficient working in Windows 95, 98, or

NT. They should also be skilled at browsing the Internet. Students must have taken the NetObjects

Fusion 5.0: Introduction course or have equivalent knowledge and have a good working knowledge of

relational databases.

Performance-based objectives

Performance-based objectives help students learn the material and enable the instructor to observe that

each student has successfully completed objectives. Upon completion of this course, students will be able

to:

 

Create custom MasterBorders, banners, and graphical navigation bars.

 

Create AutoFrames and Imagemaps.

 

Design forms, add form objects, and process form responses with the Form Handler component.

 

Create DSNs and connect to databases.

 

Design data drill-down applications using Microsoft ASP Components for NetObjects Fusion.

 

Add, update, and delete records in a database using Fusion’s ASP components.

 

Add Fusion’s own built-in components to your site; specifically the rotating ad banner, ticker

tape, and site mapper components.
