Course description

Overview: Students will learn fundamental knowledge of ZENworks 2.0.

Prerequisites: The Ziff-Davis Education course, NetWare 5.0: System Administration, or equivalent

knowledge.

Delivery method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured handson

activities.

Benefits: Students will learn how to install ZENworks, upgrade the Novell client, configure Application

Launcher to distribute applications, create and configure policies, configure Help Requester, remotely

manage another workstation, and perform workstation maintenance.

Target student: Students enrolling in this course should understand how to administer a network through

NetWare Administrator.

What's next: ZENworks 2.0: Workstation management is the only course in this series.

Performance-based objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to

evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

Install ZENworks 2.0 on your NetWare 5.0 server and upgrade your Novell Client to the

ZENworks client using the Automatic Client Upgrade (ACU) feature.

 

Create a Workstation Import policy and then register and import a workstation so that it can

be managed by ZENworks.

 

Use snAppShot to create application objects, distribute and manage the applications, customize

Application Launcher, and configure application reporting and metering.

 

Create user and workstation policy packages, enable various policies within them, view effective

policies, and use the Scheduler to configure workstation maintenance.

 

Configure Help Requester through Application Launcher and create a Help Desk policy with

contact information for troubled workstations.

 

Configure the Remote Management policy, assign the appropriate rights, and then remotely

manage your classmate’s workstation.

 

Track a moved workstation object, remove inactive workstations, take inventory of your

workstation, and generate reports based on inventory information.
