Technical Introduction to the Internet

The following courses, or equivalent knowledge, are also recommended but not required:

A+ Certification: Core Hardware

A+ Certification: Operating Systems

Network+ Certification: Second (or Third) Edition

In addition, you should have a working knowledge of the Windows 2000 Professional operating system,

so that class time is spent on Internet topics, and not Windows 2000 Professional orientation.

Delivery Method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured,

hands-on activities.

A computer capable of running Windows 2000 Server, to act as the classroom server. See the

For each student in the class, a computer capable of running Windows 2000 Professional. See

the Hardware Compatibility List for specific hardware requirements.

A live connection to the Internet for the classroom server and all student computers.

Cabling and connection devices to connect all computers into a classroom network and the

classroom network to the Internet.

A licensed copy of Windows 2000 Professional for each student computer.

A licensed copy of Windows 2000 Server for the classroom server.

Investigate basic concepts, including hardware and software devices, related to networking and

the Internet.

Examine many of the protocols and services available on the Internet.

Set up and maintain various Internet client software.

Create Web pages by using HTML.

Investigate other means of creating and deploying Internet content.

Help enhance and guarantee the functionality of a Web site.

Manage and maintain a Web site.

Examine security issues that pertain to the Internet.

Examine business issues that pertain to the Internet.
