Course Description

Your target students will get the most out of this course if they want to learn how to administer a

network by using NetWare 6.0, or if they need to use NetWare 6.0 to perform network administration

in their jobs.

Prerequisites: To ensure students' success with this course, we recommend that they first take the

following Element K course or have equivalent knowledge:

 

Windows 2000: Introduction

Delivery Method: Instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured handson

activities.

Hardware/Software Requirements

 

A server-class PC with a Pentium II or AMD K7 processor, minimum; recommended two-way

Pentium III 700 MHz or higher processor.

 

Minimum of 256 MB of RAM; recommended 512 MB of RAM.

 

Super VGA or higher resolution display adapter.

 

A DOS partition of at least 200 MB and 200 MB of available space; recommended 1 GB of

available space.

 

2 GB of available disk space outside the DOS partition for volume SYS:; recommended 4 GB.

 

One network board.

 

A CD-ROM drive; recommended, a bootable CD-ROM drive that supports the El Torito

specification.

 

A USB, PS/2, or serial mouse.

 

NetWare 6.0 with enough end-user licenses for each student and the instructor.

 

NetWare 6.0 for each student to install during class. Demo/eval copies may be used.

 

Copies of the Novell Client CD-ROM for each student (or mount the CD-ROM on the server

during the “Accessing NetWare 6.0 as an Administrator” lesson.

 

Windows 2000 for each student and instructor workstation.

 

A printer—to attach to the classroom network. It is strongly recommended that you use a

printer that can be attached directly to the network in order to configure it with an IP address.

Access NetWare resources as an end-user.

 

Access NetWare administrative utilities to manage basic services.

 

Identify NDS eDirectory features.

 

Create and manage NDS eDirectory objects.

 

Configure login security.

 

Establish file system security.

 

Establish NDS eDirectory security.

 

Configure and manage NDPS.

 

Create login scripts.

 

Install NetWare 6.0 using the Custom option.
