Course Description

Overview: Exchange 2000 Server Design and Implementation will provide students with information

about the different versions of Exchange 2000 Server and will guide students through the process of

planning for, designing and deploying an Exchange 2000 organization including designing the Active

Directory to support an Exchange 2000 organization, configuring Exchange 2000 administrative and

routing groups, public folder design, and options for securing the Exchange 2000 organization. Students

will receive deployment recommendations throughout the course, including recommended numbers of

domain controllers and global catalog servers, Exchange 2000 server capacity planning information,

and hardware configuration recommendations.

Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following Element K course or

have equivalent knowledge:

 

Windows 2000: Network Infrastructure Implementation

 

Windows 2000: Administering the Active Directory

 

Windows 2000 for Windows NT Administrators:

 

Exchange 2000 Server: Administration

Delivery Method: This course is designed for instructor-led, group paced classroom-delivery, providing

students with structured hands-on activities.

Hardware/Software Requirements: You will need:

One Windows 2000 Advanced Server computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each

computer will need at least 384 MB of RAM, at least an 8 GB hard disk, and at least a Pentium II

400MHZ processor. Network adapters, network cabling, and a hub will also be required. See your

reference manual for hardware considerations that apply to your specific hardware setup. The instructor

and each student will require Office 2000 Premium Edition, Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition, Windows

2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 Service Pack 1, and Exchange 2000 Server Enterprise Edition.

evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

Design and implement Active Directory groups to support Exchange 2000.
